Dog Friendly Parks and Beaches | South West Florida

Everyone loves bringing their pet to the park!  While pets are NOT permitted on beaches and piers we have a number of dog friendly parks and even a few beaches that allow you to enjoy the day with your furry friend!

Port Charlotte Beach Park | 4500 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte FL

This park really has it ALL and is a favorite in the community.  Not only is it pet friendly.  It features a pool, fishing pier, boat launch, kayak launch, playground, tennis courts, volleyball court, bocce area and more!  Having a get together?  You can rent pavilions and even the POOL starting at $25 an hour.  They also offer indoor meeting room with various rates.  Sunsets here are beautiful, walk along their beach which stretches throughout the park.  Its a pay to park facility and their machine accepts cash or credit/debit.

Cape Haze Pioneer Trail Park | 1688 Gasparilla Rd, Rotonda

Grab your bike or favorite running shoes and lets hit the historic grounds of Cape Haze.  About 8.5 miles in length this trail is a local favorite to explore natural Florida.  Check out the historic bunk houses built for railroad section workers.  It still stands today and also served as the first local school, a post office, an early church and a residence for several local families.  Today, the historic Placida Bunk House is the only structure left in Charlotte County associated with the Charlotte Harbor & Northern Railroad.

List of a few local dog friendly parks below!  Just because they aren’t on the list doesn’t mean a park is not pet friendly.  Be sure to check the park rules upon entering.

Favorite Dog Friendly Beaches |  7th Street Dog Park, Boca Grande FL

7th street in Boca Grande FL is just doggie paradise.  Featuring nearly three gulf-side acres of green grass, shared by the Gasparilla Inn!  Let your furry friend off its leash to run free and make some friends.  Islanders meet for daily romp - 3:15 for small dogs, 3:45 for big dogs.  The beach at the end of 7th street also allows dogs, unleashed play also happens on this beach.   Parking is free but there is a $6 charge to get on the island.

Brohard Paw Park | Venice FL

There is a large fenced in area with plenty of shade right off of the parking area, from there you can follow a path right down to the ocean.  Its a popular spot and you will see many pups enjoying some fun in the sun.  They have facilities to clean your pup up before putting him back in the car!
