Buying a new home in Florida

Driving around town, you cant miss all the development.  New homes and businesses are popping up all over Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and North Port Florida.
Interested in building a home?  In this blog you will learn the BASICS of new home buying in SWFL.

Prepare Your Home for Trick-or-Treaters

Decorate your entryway
No need to go overboard, but a few decorations will let people know that you're excited about the
holiday! Some simple decorations are pumpkins, spider webs, lanterns, etc.
Light the way
Try to avoid any accidents by lighting the pathway for the trick-or-treaters. Keep your porch light
on and add some extra lighting with lanterns or string lights!
Remove any valuables or tripping hazards
It may be a good idea to move any valuable pots or decor to another area just in case. It's also
important to clear any tripping hazards (sticks, roots, decor) out of the way.
Avoid flammable decor
Try to avoid flammable decorations such as hay, paper, dried cornstalk, etc. Whether vandals or
accidents are to blame, there are many more fires on Halloween than a typical October night,
according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Keep pets inside
Your pup may be the sweetest on the block, but not everyone knows that and the high energy may

#1 Bold & Bright Paint Colors
While it is only paint.  When its floor to ceiling, different color in every room, it's a costly job to repaint.  Its even more costly if they have to cover "bold" colors like reds, and dark blue.  When selling your home, its best to keep walls neutral and ceilings white!
#2 Being Present for Showings and Open Houses
This might seem like a great idea.  You know your home best, and you are excited to share it with potential buyers.  The reality is they can not express their opinions or even feel comfortable asking certain questions when the owner is present.  Its best to leave during a scheduled showing or open house.  If you are unable to leave, step outside whem ...

10 Simple Ways To Update Your Home This Summer

1. Make your dream entryway
Your entryway is the first thing that you and guests see when they enter your home. Why not take some time to make sure it’s an area that you’re proud of? The entryway is notorious for a mess of shoes, keys, bags, etc. Try adding a small bench for people to sit while taking off their shoes. Underneath the bench add a small mat or shoe holder to organize the floor area. Next, try adding some hooks for keys, bags, coats, etc. Spruce up the space with a mirror, plant, runner, and decorative pillow.

2. Consider painting or refinishing old/outdated wood
Outdated wood can make your home feel dark and dingy. Try repainting wood in a lighter color or even just a fresh white. If you have any old furniture, try salvaging it before tossing. Refinishing the furniture or painting a new color will make it fee ...
